Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder Inpatient to support acute care hospital coding operations. This role is responsible for reviewing analyzing and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient and emergency department encounters while ensuring compliance with coding regulations payer guidelines and federal billing standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong inpatient coding expertise advanced knowledge of ICD-10 coding practices and experience working with hospital coding systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Coding & Documentation Review
Perform accurate inpatient coding for acute care hospital encounters
Review and assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes
Apply CPT coding where applicable
Analyze medical records and clinical documentation for coding accuracy and completeness
Ensure compliance with federal billing regulations coding guidelines payer requirements and organizational policies
Support coding accuracy and reimbursement optimization initiatives
Coding Systems & Technical Responsibilities
Utilize coding tools and applications including:
3M/HDS coding application
Encoder systems
ICD coding references
Research and resolve coding discrepancies and related issues
Maintain productivity and coding quality standards
Assist with coder education and training initiatives as needed
Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel and healthcare coding software systems
Clinical Knowledge & Compliance
Apply knowledge of anatomy physiology disease processes and clinical terminology
Maintain understanding of current coding regulations and industry updates
Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of patient health information
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Certifications
One or more of the following certifications required:
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
RHIA
RHIT
CCP
AHIMA credential
Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience required
Acute care inpatient coding experience required
Emergency Department (ED) coding experience required
Strong knowledge of:
ICD-10 coding
CPT-4 coding
Federal billing guidelines
Payor regulations
Experience using 3M/HDS coding applications required
