TITLE: BARTENDER

DEPARTMENT: FOOD & BEVERAGE

REPORTS TO: FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER/RESTAURANTMANAGER/DINING ROOM MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

Working as a member of our Food & Beverage Team ensurethat guests have an enjoyable experience by providing quality customer servicewhile mixing and responsibly serving of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beveragesaccurately processing and collecting payment and stocking and cleaning of ourlicensed premise. Work closely with restaurant management kitchen staffand food & beverage personnel to help guarantee our guests a food &beverage experience which exceeds their expectations.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintain a neatand professional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform.

Be sure the baris correctly set up and fully stocked before shift begins and that bar isproperly cleaned and closed at end of shift according toproperty specifications. Assistwith ongoing bar inventory keeping track of wines beers liquors and othersupplies.

Greet guestswarmly politely and in a timely manner. Speak to guests withenthusiasm.

Be prepared toanswer questions about beverage service and beverage menu including liquorsbeers wines and non-alcoholic choices. Recognize opportunities toup-sell where appropriate.

Understand Stateof Maine regulatory responsibilities regarding service of alcoholicbeverages.

Mix and servealcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests according to propertyspecifications courteously and efficiently. Avoid over-pours andspillage.

Completeaffidavit required by the Maine Department of Public Safety Liquor Licensingand Inspection Division confirming eligibility to sell liquor.

Understand ordertaking systems to be able to clearly accurately and quickly convey guestorders using computer or manual systems.

Deliverbeverages in an efficient manner following appropriate beverage servicetechniques. Ensure that drinks are presented to guests as ordered and accordingto restaurant quality standards. Clear tables of drinks and dishes asrequired. Clean glassware bar-ware and dishes using mechanical or manualmethods.

Work withServers and Bussers to ensure that guests needs are continually to educate other members of the Food & Beverage Team on beveragesavailable and service techniques

Assist guestswith any needs corrections or additional items desired duringservice.

Prepare andpresent customer bills. Correctly understand all payment methodsaccepted how to process payment make change and open/close cash drawer ifrequired.

Understandreporting requirements for tips.

Ability tosafely operate restaurant equipment including but not limited to coffeemakers refrigeration juice machines ice machines ice crusher point of salesystems etc.

Handle andcommunicate special orders and guest complaints in a professionalmanner.

Participate inset up execution and cleanup of banquet functions as outlined in BanquetEvent Orders/Event Sheets and as directed by Sales & CateringManager/Dining Room Manager.

Maintain barservice area cleanliness as well as personal cleanliness and sanitationstandards as required by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services andOSHA as well as general maintenance and upkeep of the licensedpremises.

Know who tonotify in case of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions.

Must be able tomanually handle/lift/carry product up to 60 pounds between knee andshoulders.

Must havebilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entireshift.

Must bevertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be eligibleto work in the United States of America.

Must be at least18 years of age.

Previousbeverage service work preferred but not always required.

Ability tocommunicate in English both orally and written with guests and employeessome of whom will require high levels of patience tact and diplomacy.

Ability to workas a part of a team.

Ability tounderstand verbal directions as well as written menus recipes labels onfoods and chemicals and other workplace safety signage.

Active listeningand observation skills.

Knowledge ofcommon food allergies and understanding of cross-contamination issues.

Outgoingpersonality with good oral comprehension expression and speechclarity.

Ability to workunder pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.

ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Frequentwalking bending balancing stooping reaching pushing lifting manualdexterity and repetitive motions. May require the ability to work onuneven outdoor surfaces.

Occasional stairclimbing.

Working inextreme temperatures and conditions both indoors and out.

Schedule variesaccording to operational needs; may include early mornings evenings weekendsholidays and split-shifts.

Frequenthandwashing.

Hazards include but are not limited to cuts from knives orwine openers burns lifting injuries slips and tripping.
