Controls Technician III

Key Responsibilities

• Install configure and maintain PLC and HMI systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical instrumentation and industrial control systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation equipment.
• Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation including pressure flow temperature and level devices.
• Analyze system faults and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
• Support automation initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics P&IDs and control drawings.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of system changes.

PLC Programming

• Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000
• FactoryTalk View (SE & ME)

Industrial Networking

• EtherNet/IP
• Modbus (RTU/TCP)
• RSLinx
• Wireshark

Maintenance & Diagnostics

• CMMS platforms (such as Fiix CMMS PM or similar)
• Process trend and diagnostic tools

Additional Tools

• Calibration software
• HART and Field Communicators
• Laptop-based programming and diagnostic tools

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology Automation or a related field preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Five (5) or more years of experience working with industrial control systems.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Allen-Bradley PLCs
  • Motor control systems and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) including VFD programming
  • Industrial communication networks including EtherNet/IP and Modbus
• Proven ability to troubleshoot repair and calibrate electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and arc flash safety practices is preferred; training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment such as food and beverage dairy or process manufacturing.
• Understanding of process control loops and PID tuning.
• Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
