About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys serving educational institutions and public entities while developing expertise in a broad range of legal matters including education law commercial contracts governance regulatory compliance construction projects procurement and data privacy.

In this role you will work closely with experienced attorneys and directly advise school districts BOCES and other public-sector clients on complex legal and operational issues. The position offers meaningful client interaction diverse legal work and the opportunity to build a long-term career within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review draft negotiate and interpret a wide variety of commercial and service agreements.
• Advise school districts and BOCES on education law matters and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Provide legal guidance regarding capital construction projects and related contractual matters.
• Counsel clients on procurement purchasing requirements competitive bidding laws and applicable exceptions.
• Assist clients with governance matters board procedures annual meetings special meetings and elections.
• Advise on data privacy compliance and related legal obligations affecting educational institutions.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda opinions and recommendations.
• Assist with entity formation corporate governance and nonprofit compliance matters.
• Support 501(c)(3) filings regulatory submissions and ongoing compliance obligations.
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop practical business-oriented legal solutions.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting public-sector and educational clients.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or foreign equivalent in Law.
• Active New York State Bar license and good standing.
• Knowledge of education law public-sector governance or regulatory compliance preferred.
• Experience drafting reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Understanding of entity formation corporate governance and nonprofit compliance.
• Familiarity with 501(c)(3) filings and regulatory requirements.
• Strong legal research analytical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a client-focused environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
