Overview
A growing multi-entity organization is seeking a strong Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function and help bring structure accuracy and consistency to financial reporting.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands accounting fundamentals enjoys solving problems and can think through reconciliations rather than simply processing transactions.
The right person will work closely with the CFO and become the primary owner of month-end and quarter-end accounting activities across multiple entities. The goal is to find someone who can eventually take significant responsibility off the CFOs plate and grow into a larger role over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries across multiple entities
- Reconcile balance sheet revenue AR intercompany and other general ledger accounts
- Own month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Review financials for accuracy and investigate discrepancies
- Work through complex reconciliations involving multiple billing and reporting systems
- Prepare lender reporting packages and supporting documentation
- Assist with annual reporting requirements statistical reports and other financial submissions
- Support accounting system improvements and ongoing ERP implementation initiatives
- Serve as an accounting resource for the Accounts Payable team and assist with accounting-related questions
- Partner closely with the CFO on financial reporting process improvement and special projects
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is not just a bookkeeper or transaction processor. They are someone who understands how accounting works and can think through problems when things do not reconcile.
You should have:
- Strong understanding of debits credits reconciliations and financial statements
- Experience preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations
- Ability to identify issues investigate discrepancies and work through solutions independently
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large amounts of financial data
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- CPA not required
- Experience with multi-entity accounting is a plus
- Experience with Sage QuickBooks or other accounting systems is a plus
