JOB GOAL: To provide a well-organized smoothly functioning Media Center that provides an environment that encourages and supports learning. The library aide also provides students staff and parents access to reading materials curricular materials and other media supporting the goals of the school.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One year related experience preferred Required to lift carry push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board Of Education may find appropriate Should be an active reader Have basic computer knowledge Collaborates with staff administration and the community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Helps students locate reading and instructional materials
2. Demonstrates knowledge of book vendors/jobbers and their websites to obtain books and educational materials.
3. Generates notices to teachers and students concerning overdue and reserved books.
4. Makes simple repairs on damaged books.
5. Maintains library collection including physical inventories preparation of lists for missing books and books to be removed from the collection.
6. Shelves returned books in a timely manner and maintains shelved books for ease in retrieval.
7. Presents a positive image to students staff parents and the community.
