Local Education is currently supporting an outstanding sixth form college in the recruitment of a Head of Subject for A Level Electronics starting in September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and enthusiastic Electronics specialist to lead and coordinate a successful subject area within a well-established Chemical and Physical Sciences department.
The department currently supports around 600 students overall with approximately 55 students studying Electronics and 250 studying Physics. The wider department benefits from experienced teaching staff dedicated technicians and a strong academic culture.
The successful candidate will:
Lead and coordinate the delivery of A Level Electronics
Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons to Post-16 learners
Support curriculum development and student achievement
Monitor progress retention and value-added outcomes
Contribute to wider departmental enrichment opportunities
Potentially undertake a pastoral/personal tutor role
The ideal candidate will:
Hold relevant teaching qualifications
Have strong subject knowledge within Electronics
Be passionate about Post-16 education
Demonstrate strong classroom practice and leadership qualities
Have a collaborative and student-focused approach
Experience teaching an additional A Level subject would be advantageous but is not essential
