Senior Design Draughtsperson
Purpose of the role:
The purpose of a Senior Draughtsperson is to produce concept and detailed 3D models overall layouts designs G.A. and detail drawings for projects in a process engineering design and construction environment. Ensure accuracy and quality of the 3D models and drawings.

The purpose of a Senior Draughtsperson is to produce concept and detailed 3D models overall layouts designs G.A. and detail drawings for projects in a process engineering design and construction environment. Ensure accuracy and quality of the 3D models and drawings.
Key responsibilities:
Draughting
- Generate conceptual and detail designs for execution projects. This includes 3D models drawings and Bill of quantities for agreed discipline/s (Civil Electrical Piping Mechanical and Structural) according to client specification within agreed timeframe.
- Conduct site visits to scope collect and compile technical information required to complete the conceptual or detailed designs. Manage red-lining and the production of as built drawings if required.
- Demonstrate sound understanding of Piping and Instrument diagrams and the related symbology.
- Arrange model reviews with the Drawing Office Manager and Project Engineer.
- Arrange model reviews with Section Leader and Project Engineer.
- Assist in the close out of projects according to the Company procedure which includes redlining as built and model rendering within agreed timeframe.
- Attend project site meetings and workshop visits as required.
- Check drawings and vendor documentation to minimize errors.
- Demonstrate working knowledgeof drawing layout and presentation and CAD program software.
- Interface with Project Engineer/Manager/Drawing Office Managerthroughout the project cycle to ensure project deliverables are met within agreed timeframe by means of correspondence emails MS Teams and Scrum meetings.
- Attend to all queries from internal and external customers to ensure project deliverables are met within agreed timeframe.
- Build and maintain a relationship with relevant divisions within ProProcess to create a conducive working environment.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes reduce costs and enhance the overall efficiency and functionality during design stages.
- Senior certificate / Grade 12 essential
- Certificate in Engineering / Drafting (Structural Mechanical and/or Piping) highly advantageous
- 15 years progressive experience inCAD draughting (3D modelling conceptual drawings to workshop fabrication drawings) on process engineeringrelated projects which includes Piping Structural & Mechanical disciplines.
- Working experience within the petrochemical industry
- Exposure to site and workshop environments
- Ableto work overtime from time to time when required
- Piping 3D modellingisometric detailing and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) generation to required piping specifications.
- Mechanical 3D modellingand detailing of fabricated equipment to specified codes and standards.
- Structural 3D modellingand detailing to applicable codes and standards.
- Civil Layouts G. A.s and basic knowledge of rebar and bending schedules. Site co-ordinates and set out points elevations on earthworks and plinths.
- Sound working knowledge of Drawing office procedures and standards.
- Understanding of Document control standard practice revisions and stick file systems.
- Strong Process drawing knowledge and able to markup PIDs and report back to Process engineer.
- Knowledge in tank design and API650 specification.
- Knowledge of piping systems and pipe fitting in accordance with ASME EN and SANS standards.

- Ability to create hand sketches when required to support fabrication workshops.
- MS Office: Word Excel Outlook and Teams
- Autodesk - AutoCAD 2D 3D and Plant 3D (including Data Manager within Plant 3D).
- Autodesk Inventor Advance Steel or Tekla advantageous.
