Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors institutions and consultants to build portfolios focused on what is important to them and their clients. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Portfolio Manager-Trader will assist with the management and implementation of Parametrics client portfolios and day-to-day trading including overlay strategies and physical equity portfolios across Asia-Pacific markets.

This role serves as a second director of the Parametric Singapore legal entity and must be a registered representative.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in the day-to-day management and implementation of Parametrics client portfolios across multiple asset classes including futures swaps options FX equities and fixed income.
  • Maintain day-to-day relationships with a wide range of external brokers.
  • Execute trades across all asset classes
  • Construct optimized portfolios for separately managed accounts construct custom benchmark data monitor index changes and corporate actions.
  • Generate client reports and respond to client requests for analysis
  • Interact across teams including Technology Research Marketing Customer Services and Operations
  • Engage in process improvement and technology development efforts and other special projects across the global business
  • Conduct in-depth market and instrument analysis to support investment decisions.
  • Contribute to the production of research white papers market insights and other thought leadership relevant to overlay and implementation strategies in Asia.
  • Identify and implement improvements in efficiency control and process automation within the investment workflow.
  • Maintain high standards of operational risk management including trade approvals error monitoring and documentation.
  • Stay current on macroeconomic developments regulatory changes and investment trends across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings with periodic travel required within the region

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required; MSFA or CFA charter designation highly preferred
  • Individuals performing key functions in a fund management company such as portfolio construction and allocation research and advisory business development and marketing or client servicing are required to be represented (licensed) (expectation that continued employment is contingent upon passing licensing exam)
  • Between the two founding front-office hires employees must have a total of: 5 years fund management and 5 years dealing experience. Expect one person to hold fund license and one person to hold dealing license.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in asset management consulting trading or portfolio management preferably all with exposure to Asian markets.
  • Perform daily work with a focus on risk management in a highly-collaborative team environment.
  • Thorough understanding of market structures and settlement requirements with a strong commitment to continue to expand personal knowledge of the financial markets.
  • Strong understanding of listed derivatives OTC instruments ETFs and equity portfolio implementation.
  • Familiarity with Asia-Pacific market structures trading practices and regulatory environments.
  • Exceptional communication organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg Newport FX Connect and other trading and portfolio management tools.
  • Ability to code VBA SQL and Python a plus
  • Residence in Singapore is required for this position
