Senior Freight Trader
Job Summary
Main Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a local and global team understanding forecasting and communicating market trends. Contributing to tactical and strategic positioning and execution of trades.
- Serving internal and external cargo clients developing relationships building trust and securing preferred access to cargo.
- Optimizing the employment of period fleet vessels in the regions whilst developing and capturing period-in opportunities.
- Ensuring smooth execution of business end to end working in concert with Operations Execution and Accounting teams.
- Leveraging existing tools / research and participating in the production of new tools to enable quantification of risk/reward factors to derive appropriate pricing.
Experience:
- 3 to 15 years of relevant working experience in chartering/trading with particular focus on Asian Oceania and/or Indian ocean charterers/owners
- Experience in being primarily or co-responsible for a geographic / size segment business area developing specific business strategy and delivering targeted commercial results.
- Experience in reviewing and analyzing commercial results for the candidates business area assessing successfulness in execution of business strategy and making future adjustments from the insights gained.
- Some experience and/or interest in analyzing balance sheets and interacting with researchers to develop indicators and other fundamental and/or quantitative tool.
Knowledge:
- Expertise in performing advanced freight calculations negotiating time charter and voyage charter party terms and arbitraging freight positions on spot and forward markets.
- Extensive relationships / contact portfolio which can be readily accessed to enhance to our existing business.
- Capacity and willingness to actively participate in the global trading positions and develop broader business strategy.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in numerically based subject or other business discipline is preferred.
- Other higher education will be considered.
Languages:
- English (Fluent)
- Any other language is a plus
Systems:
- Advanced knowledge of freight orientated estimation and operational software preferably IMOS.
- Possess proficiency with MS office software particularly MS Excel.
- Familiar with and comfortable using AI tools
