Scientist, Chemical Design & Synthesis (CDS)

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Scientist will support Lubrizols Chemical Design & Synthesis group by conducting hands-on laboratory experimentation primarily focused on the synthesis characterization and development of new moleculesespecially hyperdispersant chemistries for Paints & Coatings applications. This role will follow the guidance of the laboratory lead contributing to innovative research and ensuring safe efficient lab operations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct laboratory synthesis characterization and performance testing of organic and polymeric materials under the direction of the laboratory lead and Technology Manager.
• Execute hands-on experiments collect and analyze data and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Utilize technical knowledge and statistical tools to solve technical challenges as assigned.
• Compile interpret and communicate results to the laboratory lead Technology Manager colleagues sponsors and customers.
• Prepare technical reports and enter experimental results electronically upon completion of laboratory work.
• Maintain and ensure operational safety of laboratory equipment.
• Adhere to Lubrizols safety procedures and good housekeeping practices.
• Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives within the laboratory.

Skills Qualifications Experience Special Physical Requirements:

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry Polymer Science or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in laboratory synthesis of organic and/or polymeric compounds (industrial or academic).
• Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and methodology (ex. NMR FTIR GPC etc.)
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills in English; fluency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese will be advantageous.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
• Commitment to laboratory safety and operational excellence.
