Research Assistant (Communications and New Media)

Duration: 12 months (start no later than 1 September 2026)

Location: Singapore

Eligibility:

Must have completed or be in the final year of a Bachelors degree in:

• Computer Science
• Data Science
• Quantitative Social Science (e.g. Economics Political Science Sociology with strong quantitative training)
  

Responsibilities:

• Work with Large Language Models (LLMs) including fine-tuning and evaluation.
• Conduct statistical analysis and quantitative modeling of social science data.
• Build and maintain experimental platforms for computational social science studies.
• Run analyses on datasets ensuring methodological rigor and reproducibility.
• Contribute to writing research findings for academic publication.
• Collaborate with faculty and graduate researchers on project design and execution.
  

Requirements:

• Strong programming skills (Python R or equivalent).
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch TensorFlow).
• Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Interest in computational social science and interdisciplinary research.
