Job Summary
Description -
What a R&D Mechanical Development Engineer does at HP:
- Deliver product and scanner design & assemblies to production on time cost and to specification (functionality reliability safety & performance) helping the business accomplish its goals.
- Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs including validation of tolerances form/fit/function shock and vibration electromagnetic interference safety reliability developing fan curves system power measurements & acoustics.
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of mechanical concepts and principles.
- Collaborates and communicates with management internal and outsourced development partners regarding design status project progress and issue resolution.
- Generates process efficiencies and products that meet necessary business requirements through quality documentation and project management.
- Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical knowledge and judgment.
Individuals who do well in this role at HP usually possess:
- Bachelor/masters degree in mechanical engineering.
- Typically 0-2 years experience.
- Using Creo Parametric or other 3D CAD software as a mechanical design tool.
- Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Designing sheet metal and plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes.
- Using CFD and thermal mockups to validate thermal solution.
- Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
