Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Check safety standards and systems and suggest improvements where needed
- Work with the Marine Manager to make sure vessels meet international maritime standards
- Help finalise commercial agreements with charter parties
- Create contingency plans and spot any discrepancies
- Keep track of certificates for all vessels and oversee safety nautical and commercial operations
- Spot risk areas and work with the technical department to manage them
- Support vessel Masters during pre vetting inspections including SIRE assessments
- Check navigation communication and safety equipment to make sure they are working well
- Prepare and send performance reports to clients for assigned vessels
- Keep good working relationships with local authorities and classification societies
Requirements
Requirements
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency with at least a Diploma in Maritime Studies or a related field
- At least 2 years of shore based experience in ship management or with a shipowner preferably in tankers
- Good technical knowledge of vessel operations and comfortable using MS Office
- Strong communication skills able to work independently and as part of a team with a results driven attitude
