Position Summary:

Illumina Laboratory Services (ILS) is seeking a Lab Specialist to join our Singapore-based clinical genomics laboratory. This is a hands-on laboratory-based role at the cutting edge of clinical genomics supporting the delivery of high-quality genomic testing to patients across the region.

In this role you will perform a range of laboratory techniques in compliance with ISO 15189 quality standards including DNA extraction DNA quantification library preparation and next-generation sequencing using the NovaSeq X Plus platform. You will work with a combination of automated workflows (e.g. Hamilton STAR systems) and manual bench-top assays gaining broad exposure to modern clinical laboratory operations. You will also play an important role in maintaining a safe organized and compliant laboratory environment.

This position is suited to someone with a proactive approach strong technical capabilities and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced customer focused setting. Your contributions will directly support patients and clinicians seeking answers through genetic testing.


Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests to defined quality standards and within established turnaround times.
  • Handle process and store clinical samples in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring accurate labeling and traceability.
  • Accurately record laboratory activities results and observations in laboratory records logs and electronic systems. Escalate deviations errors or nonconformities as required.
  • Maintain and organize inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with coordinating laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance; keeping records up to date.
  • Responsible for laboratory organization including but not limited to ensuring labs are clean and organized oversight of cold storage units and lab access procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to Health & Safety (H&S) requirements risk assessments and biosafety procedures always.
  • Follow all approved Work Instructions SOPs and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements ensuring compliance with ISO 15189.
  • Participate in training competency assessments audits and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve laboratory goals while maintaining individual productivity and quality standards.
  • Maintain patient and data confidentiality in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience working in or supervising a wet lab or equivalent containing standard equipment (liquid handling robots safety cabinets chemical handling and disposal centrifuges etc.)
  • Conducting laboratory work for Illuminas library prep and sequencing
