The Critical Facilities Engineer IV plays a key role in maintaining the reliability safety and efficiency of missioncritical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for executing a range of operational maintenance and incident response activities across facility systems applying sound technical judgment and a strong understanding of standard operating procedures. The engineer works with a high level of independence while collaborating with crossfunctional teams to ensure continuous data center operations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems to support reliable and continuous operations.
- Execute repairs installations inspections and maintenance activities across electrical mechanical and facility infrastructure systems.
- Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and respond to alarms performing analysis and taking corrective actions in line with established procedures.
- Operate and maintain plumbing fire suppression and lifesafety systems to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Support the operation of critical infrastructure escalating complex or highrisk tasks to senior engineers when required.
- Carry out daily operational tasks independently while receiving guidance for new or more complex assignments.
- Support vendor activities by coordinating access reviewing work plans and monitoring execution of maintenance tasks.
- Participate in the work approval process including prework briefings oversight of ongoing work and validation of completed activities.
- Ensure all vendor work is completed in accordance with site procedures safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with vendors to maintain accurate technical documentation drawings and asset records.
- Prepare and maintain site documentation including Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) work permits and operational records.
- Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommend actions to improve system reliability and resilience.
- Respond to onsite incidents including equipment failures and operational disruptions following established incident management procedures.
- Support site compliance and operational administration by applying a strong understanding of policies and procedures.
- Complete operational work orders and support system installations related to facility infrastructure.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of auxiliary systems and supporting equipment to minimize downtime.
- Implement approved changes to mechanical electrical and specialized systems.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades maintenance programs and site improvement projects.
- Work closely with crossfunctional teams to resolve operational issues and support site activities.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members on maintenance practices and operational procedures.
- Communicate inventory requirements and support the management of spare parts and critical equipment.
- Contribute to identifying and recommending infrastructure improvements based on operational insights.
- Diploma in Engineering (Electrical Mechanical Building Services or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 35 years of relevant experience in critical facilities data center operations or a comparable technical environment.
- Experience with data center infrastructure including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and facility monitoring tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills in a technical environment.
- Ability to follow structured processes while applying sound judgment in dynamic situations.
- Ability to perform handson tasks including work at height or in confined or tight spaces.
- Ability to work shiftbased schedules including nights weekends and public holidays to support 24x7 data center operations.
