The AI Alpha Group (AAG) is a newly formed AI-native investment team building and applying advanced AI technologies to deliver superior investment performance. We are a collaborative and cross-functional team of investors data scientists and technologists using AI to reimagine fundamental investing.
We are seeking a Quantitative Portfolio Manager to join AAG as the quantitative investor on a fundamentally driven equity team. Investment decisions are grounded in fundamental research with generative AI and quantitative techniques used to enhance idea generation conviction building and portfolio construction. As a foundational hire on a newly formed team you will help shape the investment process from an early stage. You will have P&L responsibility for the quantitative dimensions of the team portfolio working under the Lead PMs overall investment direction.
What impact can you make in this role
You will be a core investment decision-maker on a team portfolio building toward the frontier of AI and fundamental investing. You will bring quantitative rigor to a fundamentally driven process ensuring that conviction is sized appropriately risk is well understood and AI-enhanced signals are translated into sound portfolio decisions. You will share accountability for portfolio outcomes and continuously refine the process based on live market feedback.
What will you do in this role
Own the portfolio construction process synthesising AI-driven fundamental research and quantitative signals into a coherent portfolio with position sizes that reflect conviction and risk designed to outperform a broad market benchmark
Build the teams risk management framework combining statistical models with the underlying business drivers of the names in the book to capture the risks that matter in a fundamentally driven portfolio
Set and manage risk budgets exposures and drawdown controls in line with mandate guidelines
Lead performance analysis and attribution articulating clearly what is and isnt driving returns
Partner with our AI engineers to identify useful external data build clean pipelines and structure that data for direct use by LLM-based investment agents
Contribute to team-level discussions on portfolio positioning and performance and help evolve the investment process as Gen AI capabilities advance
What qualifications skills and traits should you possess in this role
Advanced degree in Mathematics Statistics Financial Engineering Computer Science or related quantitative field
5-12 years of experience in asset management including time as a risk-taker or as a quantitative strategist working in close partnership with fundamental portfolio managers
Demonstrated track record of contributing to investment decisions in fundamental equity strategies whether as a decision-maker with P&L responsibility or as a quant partner whose work directly shaped portfolio outcomes
Deep expertise in portfolio construction attribution and risk modelling for fundamentally driven equity portfolios. Comfortable working with both statistical and fundamental inputs when shaping positions.
Fluent in how fundamental investors think and decide (valuation methods idea generation thesis development catalyst identification) even if your own background is quantitative
High proficiency in Python and statistical/data analysis libraries
Sound investment judgment under uncertainty decisive under incomplete information with strong risk discipline and intellectual honesty in evaluating losses.
Strong collaborator comfortable working in a team portfolio structure alongside fellow PMs and AI engineers and willing to operate in the ambiguity of an early-stage team.
Genuine interest in generative AI and how it can be applied to fundamental investing.
