Associate, International Arbitration
Job Summary
As an associate in our team you will work on a range of complex international arbitration matters in a dynamic environment. You will work closely with partners and collaborate with colleagues across practice areas and global offices. Our Singapore team is an integral part of the Firms global International Arbitration Practice. We manage leading arbitrations for global corporations financial institutions foreign investors and sovereign states. We have expertise across numerous industries and specialized sectors including financial services energy power mining and metals technology telecommunications transportation construction and infrastructure and manufacturing.
As a mid-level associate you will take responsibility for key arbitration workstreams including mastering case facts leading evidence-gathering exercises drafting submissions working with experts and managing junior team members. We emphasize professional development providing significant responsibility early in your career and an opportunity to contribute to business development. We are looking for a mid-level associate with intellectual curiosity commercial acumen and a strong sense of ownership.
You should be a confident team player with strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly. Highly organized and deadline-driven you should thrive in delivering outstanding work within client timeframes.
- Conduct and manage a range of international arbitration matters and workstreams.
- Draft submissions witness statements expert reports and procedural correspondence.
- Attend client meetings prepare legal memoranda and provide written advice to clients. Liaise with clients on risk management and case strategy.
- Conduct and oversee legal research and analysis to support case strategy.
- Work with and manage technical legal and quantum experts.
- Support hearings including by preparing opening and closing submissions and cross-examinations.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional teams.
- Supervise and develop junior team members as appropriate.
- Contribute to business development and client relationship initiatives.
- 35 years of commercial litigation and/or international arbitration experience.
- Experience gained at a leading domestic or international law firm.
- Qualified in at least two of the following jurisdictions: England & Wales New York and Singapore.
- Ability to synthesize legal concepts and strategy into clear practical client advice for legal and non-legal business stakeholders.
- Excellent drafting skills with close attention to factual accuracy and persuasive presentation of arguments.
- Strong attention to detail.
