Job Summary
The Installation Manager in the event fabrication workshop is responsible for planning coordinating and overseeing the onsite setup of custom-built scenic elements displays exhibits and event structures. This role ensures that all projects are delivered on time within budget and to the highest quality standards acting as the liaison between the workshop fabrication team and the client on site. The Installation Manager leads the end-to-end execution of onsite installations for events exhibitions and brand activations. They are responsible for managing installation crews coordinating logistics ensuring safety compliance and resolving technical challenges during assembly and dismantling.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Onsite Management
Site Surveys & Logistics: Conduct site visits to assess venue conditions plan load-in/load-out logistics and verify structural requirements.
Execution Leadership: Plan and direct the installation of projects ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
Timeline Adherence: Manage project schedules to ensure timely completion of setup rehearsals and dismantling.
Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot issues in the field such as unforeseen site obstacles and implement immediate solutions.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
Crew Management: Supervise and lead internal installation teams and external subcontractors fostering a high-performance culture.
Training & Safety: Enforce safety protocols conduct toolbox talks and ensure all staff use proper PPE and equipment.
Performance Evaluation: Monitor team productivity provide technical guidance and assess performance.
3. Coordination & Communication
Liaison Role: Act as the primary point of contact for clients project managers and venue staff during the installation phase.
Internal Coordination: Work with the workshop team to ensure fabricated items are ready packed and shipped correctly.
Reporting: Prepare daily progress reports snag lists and post-installation documentation.
4. Quality Control & Resource Management
Quality Inspection: Verify the quality of installation work and ensure it matches approved drawings/samples.
Asset Management: Maintain inventory of tools equipment and consumables used on site.
Qualifications :
Experience: 10 years as an installation manager in the event industry scenery construction or exhibition fabrication industry.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and CAD files. Strong knowledge of carpentry metal fabrication branding works and painting.
Leadership: Proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors in high-pressure fast-paced environments.
Logistics: Experience with material handling transport and site logistics.
Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office with experience in project management tools like MS Project or AutoCAD being a plus.
Proactive solution-oriented mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information :
Typical Working Conditions
Environment: Must be able to work in a workshop environment which may include loud noise dust and heat with some on-site installation work.
Hours: May require working evenings weekends and holidays to meet event deadlines.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle tight deadlines and to work on site which may include lifting standing for long periods and working in varied conditions.
