We are seeking a Registered Nurse:Work on a 16- bed unit with both general and intermediate level patients.Care for medical cardiovascular patient populations.Nurses who work as a team and help one another succeed.Nurses who participate in shared governance, with a unit-based council to help support and drive quality improvement initiatives and lead practice change.Nurses who are highly engaged in acquiring new skills and integrating evidence-based nursing practices into the unit cultureAn environment that is patient and family focused including daily care team visits with the entire team but most important the patient as an active participant.Minimum Requirements: Facility Requirement: Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (address must be included in traveler's profile). Experience: IMC experience requiredCardiology experience preferredTraveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years. Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital. Successfully completed traveler assignment (13 weeks) preferred. Licensure and Certification: Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state. *Will consider candidates without WI or compact license but must apply for a temporary license under the Wisconsin Act 10 order within 48 hours of offer accepted and provide screenshot of application submitted. Traveler must complete this requirement prior to being cleared to start. BLS and ACLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY Reference Needs 2 references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only). Telemetry Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to arrival at UWHC. (Not for clinic positions) Telemetry Competency: (Please note the Inpatient/Outpatient OR RN s do not complete telemetry)All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds). If there are any questions, please refer to earlier communication from UWHC to your agency. Floating Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the traveler s assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract. Location: University Hospital, 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792 Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation. Shift: 36 hrs/week, Day/Evening, 8 and 12 hr shifts, working 7:00am-3:30pm and 7:00am-7:30pm, every other weekend, some holidays, no call.
