Senior Data Scientist

Use engineering techniques and statistical analysis to improve the dependability or reliability of a product, design or process considering but not limited to the following: vibration, shock loading, power, pressure, radiation, temperatures, fatigue, usage and environmental factors, in order to:
Prevent or reduce the likelihood or frequency of failures to ALARP.
Identify and correct the causes of failures that do occur despite the efforts to prevent them.
Determine ways of coping with failures that do occur if their causes have not been corrected.
Creation of quality documentation and development of SOPs for products in line with industry standards.
Proactive review and improvement of systems and processes to ensure the maintenance of standards.
Amendment of quality practices, standard operation procedures (SOPs) and the relevant documentation for a given design.
Define and set out appropriate tests and pass criteria to make sure that the testing for quality throughout the design and manufacturing process is effective.
Identify and understand the underlying issues, develop successful fixes, and change practices where necessary to ensure that acceptable standards are maintained.
Maintain accurate quality documentation.
Work closely with manufacturing staff to ensure quality protocols are followed and documentation is correctly maintained and implement any new changes or adaptations based on a quality review.
Inspection and testing of various parts of manufacturing including products, components, processes, and comparing against predefined standards.
Work with design and project / service delivery teams to ensure compliance with contracted requirements, alignment with correct standards and progress as per design ITP.
Maintain engagement with supply chain to ensure components are supplied per contracted and company standards.
Ensuring safety requirements are met at every point in the manufacturing facility.
Analyse problems reported and develop improvements to overcome them
Develop junior quality team members.
Statistical analysis of manufacturing data and creation of reports for senior staff members based on quality documentation.
Provide assurances that designed products are fit for purpose and meet required criteria in order to minimise risk of future failures or non-compliance.
Compilation of LTQR packages.
Work closely with external partners e.g., suppliers, customers, etc.

Attributes:
Analytical skills Required to be able to spot problems quickly and find the underlying causes so changes can be made.
Critical thinking once problems are identified, solutions and improvements must be found. This might involve thinking about a process, procedure or problem in a completely new way.
Attention to detail as the function responsible for the creation and implementation of quality systems, as well as notice and report on problems, every detail must be noticed and acted upon when necessary.
Numerical skills statistical analysis.
Communications skills strong written and verbal communication skills are key. Must be able to relay potentially complex ideas to a wide range of audiences both in personal consultations but also through company SOPs and quality documentation.
Team working skills working as part of the engineering team, and in close coordination with other teams throughout the manufacturing facility (as well as potential for interaction with suppliers and customers) is a key requirement.

HSEQ Responsibilities
It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with, and follows the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management System and takes an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Management Systems.
The incumbent must report any accidents, incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems according to the Management System processes/procedures.
The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health, safety and/or environmental legislation to follow these.
The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.
Qualifications & Experience HND (and time served apprenticeship) or BEng (Hons) or MEng in an engineering or science based discipline.
Experience in a quality engineering role.
Certified quality engineer status with an accredited body.
Member of Chartered Quality Institute.
