Assess patients create and initiate treatment plans based on evaluation results, including measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. Provide direct patient care, document progress, and give instructions to patients and caregivers. Support program development with Level III physical therapists and leadership. Act as a resource for staff PTs, offer training to students and interns and oversee patient care conducted by assistants and rehabilitation technicians.
Education: Bachelors or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program.
Licenses/Certifications: Hold a current license to practice Physical Therapy issued by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Possess current Basic Life Support certification.
Direct access to practicing physical therapists:
Education: Hold a Doctoral degree with a residency or fellowship program or be a licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence in differential diagnosis.
Licenses/Certifications: Possess a license from the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
The role involves occasional/frequent lifting up to 75/100 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds. It requires prolonged standing, frequent walking, stooping, and squatting. Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing are necessary. Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics is essential.
