The role:

As a Mechanical Equipment Supervisor, your main role will be conducted within an office-based position at Fugro in Falmouth. Within this role, you will serve as the primary support contact for the mechanical aspects of a mobile drilling unit. Joining a department consisting of several equipment supervisors overseeing offshore equipment, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and budgeting for preventive maintenance and upgrades which will include liaising between many internal and external departments. Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising routine mechanical tasks carried out by rig mechanics on the ships. Regular visits to vessels during port stays will be part of your duties, where you will actively contribute to routine statutory inspections and in planned maintenance activities.

The primary function of the role is to supervise the repair, maintenance and improvement of the mechanical plant and equipment. The other functions also include:

  • Supervising the availability, repair and maintenance of designated asset and ancillary equipment by demonstrating a proactive focus to equipment up time, Maintenance strategies, records, and routines.
  • Maximising the technical efficiency and effectiveness of the marine asset and marine equipment in compliance with the operating manual, particular emphasis on health, Safety and Environment.
  • To compile and supervise rig maintenance projects and monitor budgets.
  • To drive continuous improvement of procedures and standards.
  • To ensure all assigned drill rigs comply with current legislation and internal company standards.

Who we're looking for:

Fugro is looking for a Mechanical Equipment Supervisor that has a strong desire to improve the performance, having the stamina to drive change and motivate people within your team, requiring you to manage challenging situations and make decisions under pressure. You will also need to be willing and able to travel worldwide (usually UK Mainland and Europe) when required.

As the Mechanical Equipment Supervisor, you are required to have planning and organisational skills with a priority and good attitude for Safety. You are also required to be an effective communicator with a proactive and supportive attitude who leads by example.

Having good computer skills using Word/Excel/MS Project etc is desirable and any prior experience in maintenance management, Mechanical or technical experience and being familiar with using asset management systems is a big plus.
