ONSITE POSITION

Job Description:
  • Cabling Plan and Installation Preparations in Datacenter:
  • Survey, planning, and developing requirements/drawings for space, power, and structured cable planning in the datacenter
  • Review of hardware cutsheets to plan airflows, RU placements and service clearances
  • Understanding of TOR and EOR datacenter cabling model
  • Best practices for fiber and copper cabling and terminations with serviceability and airflow
  • Arrange site deliveries and physical installs
  • Oversee physical installs and provide managers with field observation support
  • UPS and electrical installation as necessitated by IT infrastructure
  • Remote Site HVAC Upgrade Project:
  • Oversee and ensure that contractor is meeting HVAC, mechanical and electrical requirements as per the specifications
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, primarily CAD drawings
  • Inspect site deliveries, installations, construction work to ensure compliance with shop drawings
  • Provide DoITT project sponsor with field observation reports
  • Witness commissioning and field testing of HVAC, AC, UPS, Video Surveillance, Card Access systems
  • Understanding of NEC, ITU, IEEE standards
  • Understating of DOB, FDNY and DOE construction requirements
  • Strong project management and negotiations skills to work with DCAS, DDC and vendors
  • Certain sites may require filing with appropriate City authority for approvals
  • General understanding of NFPA, NEC, Motorola and IEEE electrical grounding standards
  • Ability to draw network/telecomm rooms in MS Visio for space planning
  • General understanding of OSA standards for space planning
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform general heat dissipation calculations to provide cooling requirements
  • Understating of UPS designs to devise appropriate UPS plants
  • General understating of electrical distribution
  • Electrical and cooling capacity planning
  • Developing Visio drawings of network rooms, show cabling path, electrical line diagrams and equipment elevations
  • Electrical installation as necessitated by HVACs
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in IT Facility planning

  • Extensive experience leading projects related to HVAC upgrade

  • Must have knowledge of rack and cabling standards

  • Good understanding of NYC building codes is required

  • Must have experience with implementing Citywide video surveillance system

  • Good understanding of NFPA recommendations

  • Prior experience working for a New York City agency and good understanding of New York City approval processes related to cooling and HVAC system installs inside City owned buildings.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Successful candidate is expected to be highly organized
  • Project management through MS Project, Excel, ServiceNow, SharePoint and City s own dashboards
  • Experience with capital and expense budgeting
  • Intermediate understanding of enterprise and carrier products manufactured by all major network technology makers
  • Ability to work in collaborative environments
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Extensive travel is required. Work Location Successful candidate will be required to travel to various City sites across the 5 boroughs and to the City datacenter in New Jersey. Estimated travel requirements: Brooklyn 25%, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, The Bronx, New Jersey datacenter 15% each.
