Game Designer

The role

ddx is recruiting a Game Designer/Narrative Writer to work across several projects in our Bangkok office. ddx works closely with international enterprises and specialist companies to help them achieve their business goals.

We are looking for a game writer to join our team of creatives to help develop unique exciting game experiences set in vast story worlds built on great stories. This role will be responsible for working with the Gamification and Strategy Team to provide game scenarios for our customers and their projects.

The ideal candidate

• The ideal candidate will have proven experience in game writing especially with nonlinear playerdriven stories that are told using choicebased dialogue conversations with branching gameplay. Strong documentation and organisational skills are required.
  
• Rather than being told what to do our Game Designer/Narrative Writers are flexible thinkers when it comes to content development ingame writing design and problemsolving.
  
• DDX is curious about why people do what they do. We use qualitative research rapid prototyping and business value analysis in an iterative agile delivery environment.
  

Responsibilities

• Writing and developing narrative content across game formats and other formats
  
• Write story quests incorporating both dialogue and gameplay
  
• Writing ingame text (including but not limited to the dialog tutorial copy item descriptions etc.)
  
• Plan and pitch storylines to project leadership and client as needed
  
• Setting and/or adopting the tone and character voices that support game design goals while staying on brand
  
• Ensuring that all narrative reference documents are up to date and accessible to various teams
  
• Collaborating and updating with Game/Development Teams to fulfil game needs
  
• Act as an enduser advocate
  
• Work in an informal collaborative transparent egofree culture where your talent is valued over your title
  
• Develop your career outside of the confines of a traditional career path by focusing on what you re passionate about instead of a predetermined onesizefitsall plan
  

Requirements

Experience / Qualifications

• You have extensive knowledge and understanding of interweaving narrative and gameplay
  
• You are a perfectionist when it comes to deliverables
  
• You have prior experience and samples of writing for both interactive and traditional formats
  
• You have a strong understanding of narrative game design and the impact of dialog and text on player experience
  
• You have experience composing branching conversations driven by player choice
  
• You are passionate about playing games across multiple genres
  
• Your experience playing textbased games is a plus
  
• Strong communication planning and documentation skills
  
• Strong independent problemsolving and timemanagement skills
