What we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated and resourceful Fermentation and Biology Scientist to help us disrupt the food ecosystem in East Africa by supporting our Research and Development and production of SVT (Sustainable Vegan and Tasty) products. You will utilize your expertise in fermentation and biology to optimize fermentation processes develop new product formulations and ensure the quality and safety of our products. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams to drive innovation and contribute to the success of our product portfolio.

Duration: Three months contract with the possibility of conversion to fulltime based on performance.


What does the job involve

  • Identify research and develop new methodologies based on business needs
  • Lead fermentation process optimization to enhance efficiency yield and quality of SVT products
  • Conduct experiments with an elevated level of excellence to ensure precise and accurate data
  • Prepare samples for analysis and perform testing
  • Process and analyze experimental data
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations to communicate experimental outcomes as well as recommendations for future work
  • Perform microbial analysis and quality control testing to ensure product safety and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in applicable science (Biology Biochemistry Microbiology Life Science Food science etc.)
  • 2 years of relevant labolary experience in Yeast Fermentation
  • Proven experience in fermentation process development and optimization preferably in a food or biotech industry setting
  • Experience working with biological fluids
  • Experience working in Research & Developing settings
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC GCMS PCR and microbiological assays
  • Passion for sustainable food innovation and a commitment to making a positive impact in East Africas food ecosystem
