Finance OfficerPosition Number:50cDepartment:Office of the DCEOLevel: 4Award:May be covered under Local Government Officers WA AwardRemuneration: $97928.33 (prorata for parttime) inclusive of salary superannuation housing and district allowances (if eligible) is available to the successful candidate depending on experience skills and qualifications. Reports to: May report to Senior Finance Officer Reporting or Senior Finance Officer OperationsThis position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of a broad range of finance functions (Creditors Debtors Rates Receipting Reconciliation Payroll Purchase Order processing and review etc) within the finance team whilst working as a team member to ensure that all Legislative and Statutory requirements are met in a timely manner. The position requires a high attention to detail in preparing executing and reviewing various transactions and reports ensuring adherence to Legislation Policy and Procedure. Key responsibilities of the role include:Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability quality improvement efficiency and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter.A commitment to a safe work environment and WHS legislation policy and processes. Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) 1955 and any relevant legislation. Provide accurate and timely financial services to support the daytoday financial management needs of the Shire including but not limited to transaction processing (Debtors Rates Procurement and Creditors including reconciliations journals grant acquittals and financial analysis). Engage closely with internal and external stakeholders through the delivery of highquality customer service including assisting the Customer Experience Officers with customer service requests as required. Maintain relevant registers databases and systems including those relating to assets ensuring information is accurate stored correctly accessible and meets legislative requirements. Actively engage with the Corporate Services team providing backfill of positions as required when team members take leave of absence. Assist in the overall function of financial services working with stakeholders to resolve payment issues. Assist team members of the organisation in answering corporate servicerelated queries as required. Liaise with external stakeholders when required. Essential Criteria:Highly developed ability to uphold a valuesbased approach in the workplace. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulations that pertain to the Local Government Act 1995 other Acts and Local Laws relevant to the Shire of Carnarvon.Highly developed strong organisational skills and the ability to successfully handle multiple priorities.The ability to effectively plan and prioritise tasks and work with minimal supervision.Advanced computer skills with experience with Microsoft Suite particularly Microsoft Outlook Excel & Word Adobe and Synergy (or ability to learn Synergy). Sound ability to apply discretion and confidentiality consistently.Ability to work effectively and productively within a team or independently. Desirable Criteria:Previous experience in Local Government. Licenses Registrations Memberships or Qualifications required of the role:Formal qualifications relating Finance & Accounting.
