After School Program FacilitatorPosition Number:Department:Economic DevelopmentLevel: 3aAward:May be covered under Local Government OfficersRemuneration: $77211.20 (prorata for parttime or casual) this amount is inclusive of your base salary superannuation and if eligible housing and district allowances; and is available to the successful candidate depending on experience skills and qualifications. Reports to: Manager Tourism & Economic DevelopmentThe After School Program Facilitator is responsible for providing care and programs for children aged 512 year in the Shire of Carnarvon After School Program for 3 hours each afternoon (2:00pm 5:00pm) from Monday to Thursday. This role requires that all policies and procedures are adhered to focuses on building relationships with children their carers and performing administrative duties relevant to the running of the service. *All applicants will be placed into a pool*Key responsibilities of the role include:Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability quality improvement efficiency and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter.A commitment to a safe work environment and WHS legislation policy and processes. Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) 1955 and any relevant legislation. Provide care for school age children between the ages of 512 years.Develop implement deliver and evaluate programs and engaging activities for children between the ages of 512 years.Supervise homework and assist children in successfully completing homework activities.Liaise with Shire of Carnarvon Library staff over the use of resources and shared spaces.Purchase and prepare healthy afternoon tea for participants taking into consideration any dietary requirements.Take program registrations ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.Provide an environment that is safe stimulating and well resourced.Continuous engagement with caregivers with a focus on building positive relationships.Exercise sound initiative and/or judgement within clearly established procedures.Essential Criteria:Highly developed ability to uphold a valuesbased approach in the workplace.Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal).Experience with supervision and monitoring of children and young people.Experience and a passion for planning and delivering activities and programs for school aged children.Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.First Aid/CPR CertificateDesirable Criteria:Cert III in Childrens Services or studying towards or equivalent.Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulations that pertain to the Local Government Act 1995 other Acts and Local Laws relevant to the Shire of Carnarvon.Safeguarding Children Certificate.Preemployment Checks Required for this position:Current Western Australian Drivers Licence.Current Working with Childrens Check.Preemployment screening required for this role: National Police Clearance Less than 6 months oldPreemployment Medical ScreeningAlcohol and Other Drug screeningRemuneration and Benefits:The successful applicant will join the Infrastructure Services Team with a starting salary from $72 908.16 per annum plus allowances (if eligible) and superannuation.
