Job Description:
As part of Corporate Accounting, this position serves a critical role in leading the Technical Accounting Team and also supports other functions in Financial Reporting such as External Financial Reporting and Global Consolidations.
The Technical Accounting Team is responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules per review of complex transactions, assessment/implementation of new accounting guidance, accounting review of M&A transactions, accounting policy reviews, and ongoing technical support for the full Corporate Accounting Team, all other Corporate / Shared Services functions, and Business Units.
Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for the development, review, and support of the Technical Accounting Team as experts on various technical accounting issues and topics with the ability to effectively research complex transactions and new accounting guidance, independently assess implications, document conclusions, communicate with the impacted businesses and corporate departments, train, and/or manage an implementation plan.
- The areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to significant contract reviews, revenue recognition, leases, derivatives, VIE assessments, impairment analysis, acquisitions, divestitures, JV / Equity Investments, debt transactions, and overall application of new and existing accounting standards.
- This position is an important contributor and influencer on the Client Finance & Accounting Team with key interactions with other Corporate Accounting leads, Finance leads of Business Units, and all other Corporate / Shared Services functions such as Legal, Tax, IT, Procurement, and Internal Audit.
- This position also works proactively with external auditors to drive the timely closure of technical accounting matters. The candidate must rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish projects in a timely manner, including the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- The candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills as well as in-depth GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential to this position in order for the candidate to work collaboratively with others throughout the Company as well as various third parties.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels in the organization and being a champion of the Client's mission, core values, and team behaviors (the 5 Cs) are critical.
