Database Engineer

Database Operations Specialist

• Engage in supporting applications and interfaces for both development and production teams.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in performance optimization.
• Apply expertise in Disaster Recovery setup and testing.
• Assess and optimize Outage Management Systems for backend performance and monitoring.
• Ensure database systems are consistently updated with the latest security patches.
• Design and implement security measures including adherence to Center for Internet Security benchmarks and auditing.
• Validate all production changes database designs and adherence to change management protocols.
• Collaborate with troubleshooting teams to evaluate system health and resolve issues.
• Implement proactive monitoring to minimize system downtime.
• Consult with peers colleagues and managers to address issues and achieve objectives.
• Interact with internal stakeholders.
• Receive guidance from leadership while exercising independent judgment to understand functions policies procedures and compliance requirements.

MongoDB Experience:

• Proficiency in building and maintaining MongoDB Ops Manager environments.
• Implementation of Kerberos and/or LDAP for MongoDB authorization and authentication.
• Support for MongoDB databases distributed across multiple data centers.
• Management of MongoDB Shards.
• Proficiency in scripting with Pearl and/or Java.
• Backup and restoration of MongoDB databases using LVM snapshots and Ops Manager tools.
• Expertise in writing MongoDB Schema using Mongos.
• Configuration and optimization of MongoDB system parameters.
• Familiarity with MongoDB Ops Manager and its functionalities.
• Experience with Jira and Agile methodologies.

Additionally:

• Comprehensive understanding of MongoDB High Availability (HA) strategies including replica sets. Thorough understanding of Replication and HA strategies. Experience with Terraform/Ansible.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in Database Engineering or equivalent demonstrated proficiency through work experience training military service or education.
• Demonstrated expertise in Database Engineering or equivalent demonstrated proficiency through work experience training military service or education.
