The role of PMD is to provide high quality technical support to the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) and the Minister of Water and Irrigation to:

• Ensure that the water sector reform process is being implemented;
• Develop and introduce performance based contracting models for improvement of energy efficiency, introduction of renewable energy sources and reduction of non-revenue-water;
• Ensure that donor-funded projects are implemented in accordance to agreements, and to maximize the benefits of these projects;
• Ensure that all donor financing agreements are monitored and reports provided in a timely and accurate fashion;
• Ensure that the operational efficiency is improved in the water utilities and WAJ governorate units;
• Development of Private Sector Participation in the water sector through identification of suitable schemes, and development of financial and technical proposals, including concessions, leases, BOT schemes etc.
