Clearance Requirements: Tier 1 Background Investigation (Standard Form 85) with

fingerprints.

Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.

Contract Terms: One (1) year base contract with two (2) options years.

Period of Performance: 29 July 2024 28 July 2027

Estimated Pay: $98000..00 Based on Experience

Working Hours

The Biomedical Research Laboratory Manager work schedule will normally be Monday through FridayEastern Standard (EST) time however in support of research at a 247 trauma center work hours may require rotating shifts or weekends on a temporary basis. Although schedule may have to be flexible it will not exceed 40 hours per week.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a STEM field of Study
  • Minimum three (3) years demonstrated experience in research/translational laboratory.
  • At least one (1) years demonstrated experience with large animal research models (swine).
  • Demonstrated expertise with ordering procuring and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • One (1) year demonstrated experience developing and executing research protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience in industry standards and safety regulations for handling biological samples.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business inquiries including technical Request for Quotes and Request for Proposals.
  • Ability to work with veterinary staff to set up and prepare experiments.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to track and manage inventory.
  • Demonstrate the following work characteristics: ability to work independently; attention to detail; extensive organizational skills; initiative ability and drive to solve practical problems; excellent multitasking skills; ability to professionally interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrate expertise on Microsoft Office programs and laboratory management software such as laboratory charts.

Duties and Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations Management: Shall assist in the following tasks.

  • Coordinate and manage daytoday laboratory activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Implement new programs tests methods and instrumentation.
  • Manage lab personnel daily duties including training and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Schedule and assign employees based on lab operational needs.

Research Project Coordination: Shall assist in the following tasks.

  • Oversee the planning initiation and execution of research projects.
  • Monitor progress and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators and other stakeholders.
  • Maintains medical laboratory productivity by monitoring the workload of functional areas.

Budget Management: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Develop and manage the laboratory budget.
  • Allocate resources efficiently and seek costsaving opportunities.

Quality Control and Assurance: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Achieves quality results by participating in the hospital quality assurance program.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures for experiments and data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with good laboratory practices (GLP) and other relevant standards.
  • Adheres to specimen preparation procedures.

Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Establishes quality standards to maintain medical laboratory equipment performance.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed.

Data Management: Shall assist in the following tasks.

  • Implement data management systems and protocols.
  • Identifies informational needs to manage medical laboratory information systems.
  • Ensure data integrity security and compliance with privacy regulations.

Collaboration and Communication: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Facilitate communication among laboratory members and with external collaborators.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration.

Grant and Proposal Support: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Prepare grant applications and research proposals.
  • Track and manage grant funds and expenditures.

Professional Development: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Stay informed about advancements in the field and emerging technologies.
  • Support the professional development of laboratory staff.
  • Complies with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements.

Environmental Health and Safety: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinate with environmental health and safety officers to ensure compliance.

Documentation and Reporting: Assist in the following tasks.

  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of laboratory activities.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management or funding agencies.
