About the role: The Desktop Support Technician reports to the Manager of Information Systems and provides primary technical support to Municipal staff and members of Council who are experiencing issues with or have questions about Municipal information technology assets. The Technician ensures that all support activity is accurately recorded in the departmental work order tracking system and delivers break/fix services as detailed in the Information Systems Departments service catalog working with outside organizations where required.
The Technician is also responsible for the deployment and management of information technology assets including computers computer peripherals cell phones desk phones and other technical equipment. This involves the physical transportation of the equipment and requires the ability to lift moderate weight. The Technician develops documentation to address common technical issues and creates user guides for the hardware and software in use across the Municipality. The Technician monitors and verifies the integrity of the Municipal data backup and connected systems and supports the Information Systems Department on projects and deployments.
This is a permanent full-time non-unionized position working a Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm schedule. Work outside of regular hours will at times be required.
Salary Range: Range 3 $63960-$76028

Education & experience required:
- Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Computer Science Computer Information Systems or a related field.
- One (1) year of IT helpdesk or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of current Windows operating systems and office network environments.
- A valid NS drivers license and access to a personal vehicle are needed as travel to various locations in the County is required.
- Conditions of employment include legal eligibility to work in Canada and a satisfactory criminal record check.
