Located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley SOWINS is anon-profit society providing safe refuge and community-based resources forwomen and children in the South Okanagan. SOWINS operates a transitional andsecond stage housing facilities as well as counselling and outreach SOWINS we work from an intersectional feminist philosophy and supporttrauma-informed practice and harm reduction models.
ABOUT THE ROLE: We are currently recruiting for a casual WomensSupport Worker to join our team. The Womens Support Worker identifies client needsand risks to women who have experienced or are at risk of abuse and theirchildren in a residential setting. TheWomens Support Worker develops and implements short-term issue-specificintervention plans within program guidelines. This position also providescrisis intervention safety planning and emotional support as well as skillbuilding in problem areas to women and their children in a group housingsetting; provides information about the nature of abuse; helps women accesshousing and other services that will enable them to avoid further risk ofviolence; participates in public education and prevention activities.
Gender is a bona fideoccupational requirement of this position: only women (trans cis) genderdiverse and two-spirit applicants will be considered.
Schedule: Casual on-call
Union: This position requires union membership underHealth Sciences Association (HSA).
Wage: $27.54 $31.61 depending on length of service(HSA Grid 11). This position will also receive a Temporary Market Adjustment(TMA) to reach the wage rate of $31.56 33.49 as well as eligible premiums.
Benefits: Provided in accordance with the terms of theCollective Agreement.
Start date: June 1 2026
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma in arelated human or social service field
Valid Standard First Aid& CPR Level C Certification
Non-Violent CrisisIntervention Training (NVCI)
Valid Class 5 driverslicense and acceptable current drivers abstract
