Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care
Location: New York NY 10037 (Onsite)
Employment Type: 13-Week Contract
Schedule:
- Shift: Day Shift (8:00 AM 4:30 PM)
- Hours: 38 hours/week
- Schedule: 4 shifts/week (10-hour shifts)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care Specialist to provide comprehensive wound ostomy and continence care in a clinical setting. This role involves patient assessment care planning education and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality evidence-based patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for wound ostomy and continence care
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Monitor and evaluate patient response to treatments and interventions
- Collaborate with physicians nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families
- Lead and support staff education and training programs
- Assess patients at risk for pressure injuries and implement prevention strategies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical studies
- Assist in evaluating standards of care supplies and equipment
- Manage specialized equipment such as specialty beds and wound therapy devices
- Ensure compliance with patient safety confidentiality and regulatory standards
- Promote culturally competent care and patient education
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited program
- Active New York State RN License
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
- Experience in wound care and ostomy/colostomy care
Required Certifications (One of the Following):
- CWOCN (Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse)
- CWON (Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse)
- CWCN (Certified Wound Care Nurse)
- CWS (Certified Wound Specialist)
- WCC (Wound Care Certified)
Preferred Skills:
- Patient assessment and care planning
- Strong patient and staff education capabilities
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of culturally competent care practices
- Familiarity with specialized wound care equipment and asset management
Work Environment:
- Fully onsite clinical/hospital setting
- Collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team
