About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager Gender to deepen systematize and amplify the gender dimension of our equity work. This strategic role involves translating implementation-grounded insights into program design teacher professional development government policy influence and evidence generation. You will shape how the organization understands and acts on gender across all initiatives ensuring that foundational learning programs effectively reach girls and marginalized communities facing structural barriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and refresh of the organizations gender strategy ensuring it is grounded in field evidence and actionable across all program states
- Program Integration: Work with Delhi and state teams to embed gender-responsive design into core interventions such as Multilingual Education (MLE) and teacher training.
- Teacher Professional Development: Collaborate on designing gender equity belief modules to shift classroom practices and develop diagnostic tools for instructional patterns.
- Evidence and Research: Oversee a gender-disaggregated evidence architecture and produce knowledge products like policy briefs and case studies for governments and funders.
- External Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with leading gender organizations UN agencies and research institutions to amplify advocacy efforts.
- Program Management: Own the end-to-end management of the gender workstream including annual planning budgeting implementation oversight and donor reporting.
Required Skills & Experience
- Education: Masters degree in Economics Sociology Education Anthropology or Development Studies; specialization in gender mainstreaming is preferred
- Professional Background: 8-12 years of experience in gender and education ideally within the Indian public education context (FLN early childhood or primary education).
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of intersecting barriers to girls learning such as language caste migration and domestic labor.
- Policy Influence: Demonstrated experience influencing government policy or program design at the state or national level.
- Research Skills: Ability to design gender-disaggregated evidence frameworks and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Language: Fluency in both English and Hindi is required.
