Key Objectives of the Role
1. Establish and lead a world class Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and company specific TQM framework.
QMS Enhance and sustain QMS aligned with ISO 9001 and company specific TQM.
2. Customer Focus Reduction of customer complaints by effective closure using Quality Tools and through structured quality initiative deployment.
3. Continuous Improvement - Capture FTR PPM Failure rate for in-house and supplier parts to increase reliability of products.
Detailed Job Description Key Responsibilities:
1. QMS & Certification (ISO 9001 & TQM)
- Commitment to company wide Quality Management System conforming to ISO 9001 and internal TQM standards and to work continuously on cultural change to adopt Best practices.
- Lead ISO 9001 certification surveillance and recertification processes including internal audits documentation and management reviews.
- Institutionalise TQM tools (e.g. 5S Kaizen PDCA Six Sigma FMEA SPC) across all functions.
2. Customer Complaint Reduction & FR Cost Control
- Own customer complaint reduction through root cause analysis CAPA and PFMEA refinement.
- Monitor functional Process and to improve towards excellence to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Define and track KPIs: Customer complaint rate (in PPM) First Time Right (FTR) FR cost per unit warranty cost and COPQ.
- Lead cross functional teams (Design Production Service Supply Chain) to eliminate chronic failures and prevent repeat failures.
3. Quality Gate Review for New Products (NPD / New Launch)
- Implement and enforce stage gate quality reviews for all new products including:
- Design for manufacturing (DFM) and DFR (Design for Reliability) evaluation.
- Prototype pre production and SOP (Start of Production) validation.
- Ensure product quality and reliability targets are met before launch and post launch stability is monitored
4. Manufacturing Scrap & Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Reduction
- Track and eliminate manufacturing scrap and rework through process risk analysis gauge R&R and SPC based control charts.
- Conduct periodic reviews with stakeholders (Production Engineering Maintenance) to identify high scrap lines fix root causes and standardise controls.
- Measure and report COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) savings and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Chronic Failure & Customer Complaint Elimination
- Own a chronic failure register and customer complaint register with clear clearance time targets and closure metrics.
- Guide teams to use RCA tools (5 Why Ishikawa FMEA Pareto) and track corrective prevention actions in a closed loop system.
- Ensure customer complaint closing response is timely technical and documented for audit/claim purposes.
6. Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) & Local Sourcing
- Build and manage a robust Supplier Quality System (SQA) covering:
- Supplier qualification incoming inspection protocols and supplier quality scorecards.
- Participation in supplier development programmes to reduce incoming defects and COPQ from vendors.
- Implement supplier audit plan (including on site visits production line audits and corrective action tracking) to ensure quality of in house machined parts and supplier parts
- Work with sub-contractors to achieve required quality by contributing during machining and Quality verification.
- Implement Functional testers to perform accelerated test for conformance of intended purpose and specified warranty period.
7. In Process & Final Quality Control
- Study end-to-end process ensure build in quality
- Oversee in line quality control for In house machined parts.
Supplier parts and assemblies.
- Ensure assembly process quality control with defined checklists torque control leak test run test and final inspection steps.
- Standardise inspection methods sampling plans and control plan execution across all production lines.
- Implement Digital capturing for the measurements to analyse and improve.
8. Measurement System & Calibration Management
- Control procurement of measuring equipment based on tolerance stack up Gage R&R and capability requirements.
- Establish and manage calibration schedule for all gauges instruments and test equipment (in house or third party).
- Ensure traceability records and calibration certificates are maintained for audits and ISO compliance.
