Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Development for the and College of Humanities Arts Social Sciences and Education (CHASSE) is a front-line fundraiser responsible for generating private philanthropic support for the University. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement this role focuses on building and managing a portfolio of high-value current and prospective donors through ongoing identification qualification cultivation and stewardship. The Director plays an integral role in the Universitys Centennial Fundraising Campaign with an expectation of frequent personal visits and consistent gift production. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree;
13 years of professional experience in program management recruiting sales/fundraising or business development in an academic or business setting.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
3 years of fundraising or development experience;
Understanding of large complex decentralized public higher education institutions/
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Development/Fundraising:
Develop and manage a dynamic portfolio of major gifts ($10000) and planned giving prospects regularly meeting with donors to cultivate relationships and solicit gifts aligned with College priorities;
Enhance fundraising strategies to increase individual and corporate support securing resources for endowed chairs fellowships scholarships and other critical funding needs
Conduct a minimum of ten (10) meaningful face-to-face visits weekly with donors and prospects;
Performance metrics will be directly tied to yearly goals including targets for major gift asks and closes as well as an overall annual closed fundraising amount;
This position will be responsible for a dedicated goal of major gift asks and closes related to the College of Humanities Arts Social Science and Education priorities;
Tailor cultivation and solicitation efforts to align with donor interests and the Colleges strategic goals;
Personally qualify prospective donors as major gift or planned giving candidates.
Administrative:
Write proposals for solicitation of individual corporate and foundation prospects emphasizing pipeline development and sustaining corporate philanthropy;
Identify prospective donors through research networking and referrals;
Prepare marketing materials for the planned giving program and accurately document all donor interactions and goals in the donor management system;
Attend campus departmental and development-related events to support fundraising objectives;
Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement to determine fundraising priorities;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills;
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively;
Ability to engage and work effectively with diverse stakeholders including faculty administrators students and community members;
Proficiency in preparing proposals presentations and gift agreements;
Knowledge of estate planning and financial instruments including wills and trusts;
Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed;
Valid drivers license with the ability to travel in and out of state including overnight stays.
