This is a public video/media records position (known as a Video Coordinator) and is part of the Public Records Section of the Risk Management Division within the Washington State Patrol. An integral part of this position is searching gathering redacting and disseminating responsive WSP video records with accuracy and accountability for all agency discovery and public disclosure requests. We strive to provide complete transparency service with humility and excellent customer service to all customers (internal and external).

Duties

This position requires working independently prioritizing workload daily reliability and self-motivation. Must have strong critical thinking skills paying attention to minute details and sharing/communicating effectively (writing and speaking) with internal and external customers and team members. Viewing and redacting graphic or disturbing images is common. Looking at computer screens videos in motion from officers point of view and focusing for extended periods of time is required.

Our new teammate will be able to:
  • Locate and disseminate responsive records to internal and external requestors/customers.
  • Redact video records according to Revised Code of Washington (RCW) - Washington State Public Records Act.
  • Prioritizing all assigned public disclosure activities.
  • Communicating with assigned Public Records Coordinator regularly regarding assigned activities and meeting due dates.
  • Completing a detailed and reasonable search for responsive video records.
  • Creating links to all responsive records.
  • Inputting detailed notes processing time video(s) size and redaction time.
  • Understand the Washington State Public Records Act of 1971.
  • Strictly use the statutory codes.
  • Create a video withholding log.
  • Locate and disseminate responsive video and digital media records to external customers.
  • Manage categorize and organize video and digital media for retention.
  • Receiving and prioritizing all incoming video records requests.
  • Utilizing all agency resources to assist in locating all responsive records.
  • Completing a detailed and reasonable search for responsive records.
  • Providing customer/requestor with accurate and timely information.
  • Retaining complete and detailed records for all completed records requests.
  • Record all work completed during regular and overtime hours into an End of Shift (EOS) document if required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School degree or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of clerical experience.

Supplemental Information

NOTE: This is not a full-time telework position. Candidates must be able and willing to work in the office and commute to here. A hybrid work schedule may be available after training and/or probationary period has been successfully completed.
