Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent fulfilling lives.
Wunan delivers the Pathways to Home Ownership Program (PTHO) and the Kununurra Community Hostel in the East Kimberley. Both programs empower and support people to access safe and sustainable housing and accommodation. The Pathways to Home Ownership Program walks alongside individuals and families each step of the way to help them achieve their goals of home ownership. The Kununurra Community Hostel provides secure short to medium term accommodation for people working or training locally.
Wunan is seeking a Housing Programs Coordinator to oversee the delivery of both important programs. Were looking for someone motivated to make a difference in peoples lives by supporting them into suitable and sustainable housing and accommodation.
Key Duties
Work with community members to identify what their housing needs are
Provide step by step guidance to program applicants as to how they can secure housing either
through the PTHO program or the community hostel
Engage with the relevant housing providers and stakeholders to ensure processes run
smoothly for the program applicants
Coordinate staff to ensure the day-to-day requirements of the programs are met
Monitor program performance and reporting to meet funding requirements
Requirements of the role
Essential Criteria:
Experience working in community services housing or a related field
Ability to coordinate programs or projects and manage day-to-day activities
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
Organised reliable and able to manage competing priorities
Understanding of or willingness to learn about working in and with Aboriginal communities
Desirable criteria (good but not essential):
Experience working with Aboriginal organisations or in the Kimberley or remote settings
Knowledge of housing homelessness tenancy support or accommodation services
Experience supervising staff or supporting team members
Experience with reporting data collection or working with funding requirements
Relevant qualification in community services housing social work or a related field
Pre-employment requirements
Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
Current Working with children clearance
Current Australian unrestricted C class Drivers license
