Job Title: Director of School Finance
Job Goal:
To oversee accurate financial reporting and auditing processes while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and promoting transparency across all financial activities for ESC districts.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in finance or related field
- Extensive ASCENDER business data management software knowledge
- Five or more years of experience in school finance
Preferred:
- Knowledge of other school district Enterprise Resource Plannings (ERP) software
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Supervisory and leadership experience preferred
- Masters degree preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of school finance and budgeting
- Thorough understanding of the Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG) and Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR)
- Understanding of public purchasing laws and regulations
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret financial data and prepare reports
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all School Business operations for accuracy and compliance
- Monitor and assist with district bank reconciliations budgets finance and payroll
- Conduct frequent audits of Business Service records and data for accuracy and compliance
- Assist district stakeholders understand and interpret data provided
- Serve as a point of contact for districts on school finance matters
- Assist in updates to policies and procedures which ensure member districts are in compliance with Federal State and Local District rules and regulations
- Responsible for ensuring deadlines of School Business staff are met
- Prepare timely reports to districts
- Train and ensure all School Business staff are up to date on state and federal guidelines
- Provide timely ASCENDER Business training to district and ESC personnel
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Equipment used:
- Computer and applied software
- Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Working Environment:
- Work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Prolong sitting; occasional lifting bending/stopping pushing/pulling and twisting
- Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
- Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Frequent region-wide and occasional statewide travel
- May work prolonger or irregular hours
- Work with frequent interruptions
- Maintain emotional control under stress
