Science Teaching Role in a Comprehensive Academy
A comprehensive academy in Braintree is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a school that is committed to academic progress inclusive education and high-quality teaching across the sciences.
The Science department delivers a broad curriculum across Biology Chemistry and Physics with a strong focus on practical learning and student engagement.
About the Role
You will teach Science across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering lessons that develop students scientific understanding investigative skills and analytical thinking.
The role includes both theoretical teaching and practical laboratory work helping students develop confidence in experimentation and scientific reasoning.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations supporting them in developing strong subject knowledge and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within the department to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Deliver lessons covering Biology Chemistry and Physics
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory environments
Contribute to departmental planning and STEM enrichment activities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively
Strong classroom management skills
Good organisational and communication skills
Desirable
Specialism in Biology Chemistry or Physics
Experience teaching KS5 Science
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
