Job Summary

Western NSW Community Legal Centre Inc. (WNSWCLC) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Executive Officer to lead our organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic direction operational management and sustainable growth of WNSWCLC a not-for-profit community legal centre delivering free legal services to people experiencing disadvantage across Western NSW.

Western NSW Community Legal Centre (WNSWCLC) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting access to justice for people facing disadvantage across our region. We provide free legal advice representation referrals and community legal education to empower and support our communities. Based in Dubbo our team delivers regular outreach to more than a dozen regional and remote communities across Western NSW.

The specialist unit Western Womens Legal Support (WWLS) plays a vital role in supporting women and children affected by domestic and family violence delivering trauma-informed culturally safe legal and non-legal support.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Executive Officer you will lead an experienced team and report directly to the Volunteer Management Committee. You will be the main external face of WNSWCLC holding primary responsibility for the organisations strategic direction financial sustainability and operational performance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of WNSWCLCs Strategic Plan in collaboration with staff and the Management Committee.
  • Managing all aspects of organisational compliance including statutory funding and contractual obligations.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with funders government agencies community organisations legal sector partners and media.
  • Overseeing financial management across multiple funding streams including budget development monitoring and reporting.
  • Driving funding sustainability through grants management funding submissions and fundraising strategy.
  • Leading supporting and developing a skilled multidisciplinary team.
  • Resourcing and supporting the volunteer Management Committee to fulfil its governance responsibilities.
  • Representing WNSWCLC at a senior level across Western NSW Sydney and remote communities including overnight travel.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a confident compassionate leader who is passionate about access to justice and community-led service delivery. You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in high-level management of staff and budgets policy development and setting strategic direction.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (business law public administration social science or equivalent).
  • Experience working in or a thorough understanding of the requirements of working within a legal practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those experiencing economic social and cultural disadvantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of statutory and compliance requirements applicable to not-for-profit organisations including funding agreement obligations.
  • Experience working with or for volunteer committees in the community services sector.
  • High-level oral and written communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to represent the organisation at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing grants developing budgets and monitoring funder compliance.
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel to regional remote areas and Sydney including overnight stays.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary:$135000 $142000 per annum (depending on experience) plus superannuation.
