(Full-Time Exempt Position)

Inner City Law Center is hiring talented dynamic lawyers to help end homelessness in Los Angeles. We are a nonprofit poverty-law firmlocatedin the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect ICLCs 75 attorneys fight for housing justice for low-income tenants working-poor families people experiencing homelessness people living with HIV/AIDS people with disabilities and homeless veterans.

Position Description: ICLC seeks a talented full-timeSupervisingAttorney thatwill work closely with clients and our partner organizations and will bring a whatever-it-takes approach to ending and preventing homelessness. Strategies include maximizing income through government benefits and increased employability; consumer law; limited immigrationassistance; eviction defense; record expungement; citation defense; credit improvement; debt reduction; and preserving and obtaining housing subsidies.

Responsibilities:Working in partnership with homeless service providers the Supervising Attorney will provide holistic legal services to tackle barriers to clients becoming and staying addition to representing client and participating in community outreach events including legal clinics and developing relationships with service providers the Supervising Attorney will handle and supervise attorneys fellows and administrative staff with creative problem solving and litigation to address novel issues as well as the following:
  • Play a significant role in leading and supervising their team in some instances even managing an entire team depending on size of the team and other factors.
  • Perform management roles including organizing teams workflow and work schedules assigning work providing substantive supervision of legal work managing aspects of grant funding providing professional development opportunities for staff and providing guidance and recommendations regarding hiring promotion evaluations and significant discipline decisions.
  • Carry a caseload which may include trials appellate work and administrative hearings.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Bring critical expertise or experience and provides significant guidance and mentoring to staff across the organization.
  • Partner with other nonprofit organizations and government agencies informing them and our client communities about their legal rights and ICLC services.
  • Maintain accurate timely and complete case files and submits detailed monthly statistical reports to the appropriate ICLC administrator.
  • Work with appropriate government agencies to resolve client problems.
  • Partner with pro bono counsel to expand the volume of services that ICLC can provide.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong research writing and analytical skills. Ability to assume responsibility quickly and work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use good judgment multitask and meet short-notice deadlines. Ability to interact with a wide range of people in a kindappropriate client-centered manner. Membership in the California Bar isrequiredunless you are eligible to practice as a Registered Legal Aid Attorney under Rule 9.45 of the California Rules of experience required. Prior supervision of legal staff preferred. Musthave a reliable form of transportation.
Compensation:We are seeking attorneys at all levels of ranges from $91000 to $125000 and iscommensuratewith qualifications and experience. has a hybrid work environment. This position will serve a nine-month probationary period.
