Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer: Mechanical to lead technical excellence within our Mechanical Engineering discipline. This senior leadership role is ideal for an accomplished engineer with deep expertise in structural design and a passion for innovation in the defence and aerospace sectors.
As the design authority in your field you will guide the development of advanced antenna systems combining strategic insight with hands-on technical leadership and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design Authority
- Serve as the design authority for mechanical/structural engineering
- Lead complex system designs ensuring technical excellence and robustness
- Oversee design reviews ensuring compliance manufacturability and performance integrity
- Ensure alignment with defence and aerospace standards such as MIL-STD STANAG IEC and ISO
Mentorship & Team Development
- Provide technical mentorship to engineering teams
- Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous learning
- Support capability development within the mechanical engineering discipline
Opportunity & Strategy Support
- Contribute to feasibility studies concept development and bid activities
- Support strategic decision-making alongside executive leadership
- Collaborate with other Chief Engineers across disciplines
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Drive research and development initiatives
- Champion process improvements and engineering best practices
- Contribute to intellectual property development and technical differentiation
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering
Experience
- 10 years of relevant engineering experience
- Proven track record of technical leadership and design authority roles
Core Expertise
- Recognised subject matter expert in structural mechanics
- Strong understanding of defence and aerospace engineering practices
- Experience with structural analysis materials and system integration
