Job Summary
Swim Lesson Instructor
Coe College Athletics Department is seeking enthusiastic and professional Swim Lesson Instructors for the summer season with additional opportunities during the school this role you will deliver structured swimming instruction and create a safe supportive environment for all class participantsranging from preschool and youth programs to adult sessions.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provide structured engaging swim lessons that cover proper strokes techniques and skills for each program level.
- Ensure the safety of all lesson participants and respond promptly in emergency situations.
- Actively participate in each lesson by being in the water serving as both instructor and role model.
- Arrive on time prepared with proper swim attire instructional equipment and a welcoming attitude.
- Follow and prepare daily lesson plans in line with the session outline while maintaining a flexible problem-solving approach to last-minute changes.
- Enforce all pool rules policies and procedures consistently.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years old by the start of the summer season.
- Experience working with children is recommended.
- Excellent communication patience and interpersonal skills are essential.
- A passion for working with people of all ages while modeling core values such as caring honesty respect and responsibility.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred but not required.
- Prior experience teaching swim lessons is an asset.
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
- Attendance at staff meetings and training sessions prior to the first day of swim lessons is mandatory.
Position Details:
- Shift: Morning and evening shifts; Monday through Thursday with occasional Fridays.
- Hourly Rate: $15.00-$20.00 per hour based on experience
Hours: 6 to 24 hours per week with additional hours available as needed.
