To be considered for MEMS EMT Rookie School you must meet these requirements:
- Achieved a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a current valid Arkansas drivers license and acceptable driving record.
- Minimum age of 19 at the start of class.
- Be physically fit and able to pass a physical examination.
- Attained acceptable scores on a recent college placement exam. Oneoption is the Accuplacer entrance exam which is offered onsite at MEMS at no cost to the candidate.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening. Please note this is a safety-sensitive position.
- Pass a criminal background check.
Qualified candidates who are selected for Rookie School will be hired as full-time employees and paid an hourly rate of$12.50. Rookie students are asked to sign a Tuition Reimbursement Agreement to work for MEMS in a full-time capacity for 18 months beginning their first day of class. Student/employees attend our 9-week full-time in-house EMT training and are offered full benefits beginning October 1st. After successfully completing the program and obtaining an Arkansas state EMT license and National Registry certification full-time employment continues with EMT field training. Once complete new EMTs are paired with a crew partner and assigned their own shift slot. Full-time newly licensed EMTs receive hourly pay of $17.25.
