Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager / Senior Engineer (or Senior Designer)with deep hands-on experience in municipal linear infrastructure projectswithin the GTA.

This role is suited for a technically strong professionalwho understands the full lifecycle of projects from design through construction with the ability to lead complex water wastewater and stormwater infrastructure assignments.

This is not a general civil role; candidates must demonstrate direct experience in municipal linear systems.

This position is based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and operates in a hybrid model including a combination of work-from-home office and project site presence as required.

Role Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will lead and manage municipal infrastructure projectsincluding watermain sanitary sewer and storm sewer systemsfrom concept development through detailed design and construction. They will oversee and review engineering design deliverables including plans profiles specifications and cost estimates ensuring all documentation meets quality standards.

This role involves coordinating with municipal clients such as the City of Toronto Region of Peel and Mississauga as well as interfacing with utilities and regulatory agencies throughout each project phase. The candidate will provide technical leadership on design decisions constructability and risk management and will support and review construction methodologies with a focus on trenchless solutions such as microtunneling horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and pipe bursting.

During construction the engineer will interface with contractors manage requests for information (RFIs) handle change orders and provide site support. Mentoring junior and intermediate staff and contributing to overall team development are key aspects of this role.

The candidate will ensure compliance with Ontario standards (OPSS/OPSD) municipal guidelines and all permitting requirements. They will support proposal development by defining scope providing technical input preparing cost estimates and developing schedules. Additionally the candidate will lead and facilitate meetings with clients contractors review agencies and governing authorities to support effective project delivery and coordination.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum 10-15years of experiencein municipal linear infrastructure(water sanitary storm) non-related experience will not be considered.
  • Proven experience in design of major municipal infrastructure projectsin Ontario.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and sequencingfor underground infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects within the GTAand working with local municipalities.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and make sound engineering decisions.

Preferred or asset qualifications for this role include holding a . designation in Ontario which is considered a strong asset but not mandatory. Experience with trenchless construction methods and involvement in large municipal programs are highly valued. Additionally a working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D is beneficial for review purposes though not required.
