Ttitle: Athletic Director

Portage Township Schools is seeking a detail-oriented organized individual to join our staff as our high school athletic director. The responsibilities of the high school athletic director include organizing sports functions hiring and mentoring coaches overseeing sports facilities and managing the sports department.

To be a successful high school athletic director you should be passionate about sports and education and have a keen understanding of the development of young athletes. Ultimately a top-notch high school athletic director should be energetic and detail-oriented with good leadership and communication skills.

Work Year: Full Time 12 Months

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years teaching experience at the secondary level
• Successful coaching experience
• Evidence of strong leadership qualities
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Experience in supervision and evaluation of teaching and coaching personnel
• Posses an Indiana teaching license
• Indiana Administrator license highly preferred

Job Duties and Responsibilties:

• Provide administrative direction to all athletic programs and activites
• Supervise the purchase of equipement and maintenance of the facilities
• Supervise all athletic staff
• Plan implement and promote athletic progams including the scheduling of games transportation and officials
• Develop and manage departmental budget and ensure departmental compliance with the Indiana State Board of Accounts cash handling and management policies
• Collect and analyze departmental statitics and data
• Solicit community financial support for all athletic programs
• Collaborate with the high school principal in all athletic matters including the hiring of the coaching staff
• Arrange media coverage for athletic events
• Represent the school corportation at professional meetings with other conference members
• Represent the school corportation at state level meetings
• Other duties as assigned by the high school principal or Superintendent
