We are recruiting for a Commercial Lines Underwriter (Renewal Underwriter) to join our team in the North. This role will be hybrid working from our Farmington Hills MI Lisle IL or Indianapolis IN office working 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

Position Summary:

Responsible for evaluating and managing assigned accounts maintaining a portfolio of renewal accounts and making informed underwriting decisions in alignment with Amerisures risk appetite and strategic objectives. This role highlights data-driven risk assessment effective negotiation and collaboration with agency partners to achieve underwriting goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate underwrite price and negotiate assigned accounts in accordance with Amerisure risk evaluation process and renewal framework.

  • Analyze and assess risk factors to ensure adherence to Amerisures underwriting philosophy.

  • Provide service excellence to agency partners adhering to established service standards to strengthen agency relationships and support business objectives.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key agency contacts to facilitate effective negotiations and ensure successful account acquisition and retention.

  • Attain established underwriting performance metrics for both new and renewal accounts.

  • Maintain organized and thorough underwriting documentation in accordance with Amerisures standards and guidelines.

  • Utilize underwriting tools to effectively support risk assessment and decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience.

  • 1 year underwriting experience in commercial or middle market insurance.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department across the organization and with external customers.

  • Excellent organizational skills including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
